The new Children’s Library App that's out of this world!

Planet Library in Action

The following video shows the applications features and how to use them.

Engage Children and Teen Visits

Planet Library is a fun and engaging way to attract new Child and Teen members, to increase the frequency of their visits and to reward them for reading and service use. Planet Library capitalises on their love of devices, Apps and Games and helps them see the Library in a different light, a fun and digital space. Within the App, they can search for books, reserve them for collection, manage their loans, receive recommendations and create reviews. The App includes a barcode scanner to scan an ISBN to check if it’s available free at the Library, or to get more information on a book in the collection. They can even access suitable eBooks in the collection and access them on their device.

Rewarding Loyalty and Visits

Incorporating new and exciting Augmented Reality (AR) features, customers are encouraged to visit their local library frequently. The App uses AR and Bluetooth technology to enable customers to view and collect a large and ever expanding number of virtual character which they keep in the App. Collecting characters earns them tokens and coins to redeem against games that they can unlock within the App. These features can help libraries re-engage with younger customers, attract more and drive a steady stream of young customers into their local library branches.

Games and Challenges

In exchange for using the App to interact with their local library service, young customers are rewarded in the App with access to a large and continually increasing number of games to play and challenges to complete. These games and challenges keep them immersed within the App and encourage them to use it more and more. To ensure continued engagement with the App and the Library, we will be continually updating it and adding new games, challenges and other content to ensure your younger customers always have a reason to want to come to the Library!
